A quick filming guide for various major and smaller stations.
NEWCASTLE- owned by East Coast
As long as you have a ticket (the station has barriers) you can generally just film and photograph, without needing to inform staff, I recommend the furthest possible west for filming and photos as generally no passengers are in this part and the trains only go so far down the platform when arriving, so you can get a good view of departures.
DURHAM/DARLINGTON- owned by East Coast
These stations are barriered, so you will need a ticket also to enter the platforms. As the stations are smaller (D'ton has 4 platforms with 1 and 4 being ECML and 2 and 3 being the Bishop-Saltburn line- but these are not through platforms, you may wish to inform a member of staff of your presence if you are staying for a prolonged period of time. Durham is just 2 platforms so any part is fine for filming (northern end being particularly good in the sunset light)
YORK- owned by East Coast
This station isn't barriered as it is so close to NRM York, so obviously it is very popular with enthusiasts, as long as you film/photograph outside of the roofed area also you should find the surrounding area very quiet.
GLASGOW CENTRAL- owned by Network Rail
As long as you have a ticket valid on the specified platform (or any if there are no inspections taking place) you can film or photograph (southern areas advised as station is extremely busy). If you are filming for prolonged period of time you may wish to obtain a pass from reception or inform a member of staff.
PLEASE NOTE- This is advice not facts so I can't accept any responsibility for any problems.
